About Us

Gymnastics Australia (GA) is the national governing body for gymnastics within Australia. Established in 1949, Gymnastics Australia’s mission is to promote, develop and grow gymnastics for the enjoyment of all. Encompassing eight gymsports being the Olympic disciplines of Men’s and Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline Gymnastics, as well as Aerobic Gymnastics, Acrobatic Gymnastics, Gymnastics for All and Cheerleading, gymnastics provides opportunities for all Australians.

With the third highest female membership base of organised sport within Australia – 90% of our athlete members are female – gymnastics continues to provide children of all ages the opportunity to learn to move and move well. From KinderGym programs which teach children to master the Fundamental Movement Skills through to our high performance programs and Olympic Medal goals, gymnastics stretches the entire sporting landscape.

For the first time ever in 2017, Gymnastics Australia recorded more than 200,000 registered athlete members, with this number continuing to climb, as over 800,000 additional Australians are engaging in our sport every year. The organisation has had year-on-year athlete membership growth for 13 years in a row, with 93 per cent of the athlete members under the age of 12 (42 per cent are under the age of five).

Gymnastics programs are delivered in over 600 clubs across Australia, with over 7,000 coaches and more than 2,500 judges.

Participation programs delivered by Gymnastics Australia are specifically designed to provide fun, fitness, friendship and fundamental movement skills in a safe and positive environment, and are suited to Australians of all ages and abilities. Our High Performance programs continue to develop our athletes, ensuring ongoing achievements and success within the international arena including World Championships and Olympic Games.

Gymnastics Australia is also committed, through the delivery of quality services and products, to provide a framework that encourages the training and continuous improvement of affiliated clubs and accredited coaches and judges.
